Reef Balls at Fahl Island                                                     19th March 2004

We regularly visit the site of the shallow Reef Ball placements at the southern end of Fahl Island. They were put in place in 1999, and now, five years on, we can see how the naturally seeded coral has developed on the Balls.

Sadly, we also show how five years growth is destroyed  - the last photo shows how so much coral is damaged by careless net fishing practices. We shall continue to post pictures of the Fahl island reef balls at regular intervals to show how the coral is progressing. Richard and Mary Field

        The dominant Acropora coral species are A.valida,  A.arabensis  and  A.downingi
